East India Dock in 1803
1803
The East India Dock Company was established in 1803. The company rapidly became profitable through its trade in commodities such as tea, spices, indigo, silk and Persian carpets. The tea trade alone was worth £30m a year.

Aberfeldy Village 1930 Housing Developments
1916
Images of the site in 1916 show housing developments on the site of Aberfeldy Village. The marshland was drained by Scottish Engineers, hence the Scottish themed street names in the area.
Aberfeldy Village in 1982
1982
Following substantial bombing during the war and decline of trade in the docks, the dock was in-filled by 1982.
Poplar Harca
1998 & 2007
In 1998 and 2007 PoplarHarca, a Poplar based housing association purchase substantial plots of land surrounding the former East India docks with the vision of creating a masterplan that will provide affordable homes for the local population and essential community infrastructure.
Community Amenity Space, Aberfeldy Street
2012
In 2012 PoplarHarca and Willmot Dixon agree to develop 1176 homes in the area in a joint venture partnership.
Linear Park Oxbow
2014 - present
In 2014, the first residents moved into Aberfeldy Village. Since then, over 900 homes have been delivered with more to come in the future – the community at Aberfeldy is growing.

Poplar HARCA is an award-winning Housing and Regeneration Community Association in East London.

Our residents voted us into existence over 20 years ago. We are led by the needs and aspirations of the community we serve. They are at the heart of every decision we make and hold us to account.

Today, we own and manage over 9,000 homes and, with partners, we are leading a £2.5bn place-shaping programme including new homes, education, healthcare, faith buildings, business and community spaces.
