The second instalment of the Aberfeldy Socials series brought a creative and community-focused evening to E14, East London, with a hands-on scrunchie making workshop led by designer Kiki Zoë at the Oxbow Marketing Suite.
Building on the success of the first event, Aberfeldy Socials continues to establish itself as a growing programme of East London community events, designed to bring people together through creativity, conversation, and shared experiences. This second event introduced a sustainable fashion element, offering guests the chance to learn new skills in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
The workshop invited both beginners and those with sewing experience to create their own handmade scrunchies. With a wide selection of fabrics available, participants were able to choose materials that reflected their personal style, while some brought their own fabrics to incorporate into their designs. The session encouraged creativity and individuality, making it an engaging experience for all involved.
Kiki Zoë guided attendees step by step through the process, offering one-to-one support while sharing insights into her journey as a self-taught clothing designer. Her focus on sustainable fashion and repurposing second-hand materials added depth to the session, sparking conversations around conscious design, creativity, and the value of making by hand.
The atmosphere throughout the evening was warm, sociable, and collaborative, with guests connecting over their creations and enjoying the opportunity to try something new. By the end of the session, participants left with their own finished scrunchies, along with new skills and inspiration to continue exploring sewing and upcycling.
As the second event in the Aberfeldy Socials series in E14, this workshop reinforced the programme’s mission to deliver accessible, creative events in East London that foster genuine community connection. With each event, Aberfeldy Socials continues to build momentum as a go-to series for local experiences.
