Beads & Jazz Launches Aberfeldy Socials Series with Creative Community Evening

April 2026

The first event in the Aberfeldy Socials series took place on Thursday 26th March at the Aberfeldy Marketing Suite, bringing together local residents for an evening of creativity, culture, and connection. Titled Beads & Jazz, the relaxed workshop offered attendees the opportunity to design and create their own personalised accessories while enjoying a live jazz soundtrack.

The session welcomed participants of all skill levels to explore the art of beading, producing a range of handcrafted items including phone charms, bracelets, and lanyards to take home. The calm, sociable atmosphere was enhanced by a live DJ set featuring smooth jazz selections, creating an inviting space for guests to unwind and engage with others in the local community.

The workshop was led by Sante Koranteng, founder of SANTE, a London-based accessories brand with roots in Accra, Ghana. Drawing on a five-generation family craft tradition dating back to the 1800s, Sante guided participants through beading techniques inspired by Ghanaian heritage. Attendees were introduced to the cultural significance of the materials and methods used, gaining insight into the craftsmanship behind each piece.

SANTE sources its beads directly from markets in Accra, working closely with family-run suppliers and women-led bead traders. This approach helps to support local craft communities while promoting fair pay and preserving traditional skills. The workshop provided an opportunity not only to learn a new creative practice, but also to engage with the story behind the materials.

Beads & Jazz marked the beginning of the Aberfeldy Socials programme, a series designed to foster community connection through accessible, creative experiences. The event successfully brought together neighbours and local residents in a welcoming environment, encouraging participants to slow down, make something by hand, and connect with others.

With strong attendance and positive feedback, the launch event set the tone for future Aberfeldy Socials, highlighting the value of shared creative moments within the local area.
